"U.S.S. Keokuk" . . . Union Ironclad. Built in New York by a friend of John Ericsson as an experiment with composite armor. Layered wood between layers of armor plate, then sheathed outside with plate steel.  The design proved to be weak. She was lost in battle attacking Charleston, taking over 90 hits that turned her into a Swiss cheese. She sank off Morris Island in Charleston harbor. 19.5" long, 1/96th scale.  Cutaway kit   #96-001.  $199.95


"The Palmetto State"  was an Ironclad whose cost was raised by the ladies of Charleston, S.C.  Launched in 1862 she attacked the Union blockading Charleston. She managed to break the blocade and capture one ship! As Sherman advanced, she was burned or blown up in February 1865 to keep her from the Union. War ended 2 months later. 27" long. 1/96th scale.  $249.00

"Turtle". . .  David Bushnell's 1776 American Revolutionary Submarine. The first practical sub in history. Made of oak staves like a barrel, it was built to deliver mines against the British ships.
