THE WEEHAWKEN  was one of a class of ten single turreted monitors ordered built after the great success of the Monitor in its battle with the CSS Virginia. This fleet of monitors was known as the Passaic Class, larger than the first Monitor & differing from her in as much the pilot house was built above the top of the turret. The Passaic class was armed with heavier guns & carried one XI-inch Dahlgren & one XV-inch Dahlgren smoothbore guns. 

"Old Steam Navy" Kit is 1/96th scale, made of resin and white metal/pewter parts. Each part is individually cast. The use of the laser produces stunning historically correct detail. The interior of the turret contains all parts necessary to produce a detailed cut-away version matching historical blueprints. Kit  includes 64 two-ball stanchions, spun cast white metal flagpoles, turret stanchions, sheaves, cleats, warping chocks, etc. & two Steingraeber life boats & canopy that sat on top of the turret.  History & instructions provide: historical blueprints, photographs, and wood etchings to aid in  construction & to tell the fantastic story of the Weehawken's service.
