On the night of 17
February, 1864, the Confederate Submarine H.L.Hunley attacked and
sank the Union Sloop of War, the U.S.S. Housatonic, and became the
first submarine in history to sink an enemy warship in combat. The
Hunley disappeared after signaling her success to Confederate
positions on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. Her secrets
remained lost until discovered in 1995, when her wreck was
discovered and later raised for study and preservation by
"The Friends of the Hunley". This very easy to build all
resin model kit was created from first hand observations and
archeological measurements to create a truly accurate and
magnificently finished piece for display. Only a small amount of
modeling experience and a few tools are recommended to complete
the kit. Simple instructions included indicate what tools are
necessary. (Glue and paint are not included.) Scale is 1/72.
Length 11.50". Kit number #72-001. $29.95
